Installation instructions – Access Hatch

Kerb

·         Place kerb over roof opening and fix through foot of kerb using the 55mm fixings supplied, making sure the fixings have a secure base

·         A table for the quantity of fixings required per side is shown below:

No. of fixings

Length of side (mm)

2

600 / 750 / 900

3

1050 / 1200

4

1350 / 1500

5

1650 / 1800 / 2400

·         Install roofing membrane as specified in the manufacturer’s instructions. Preferred details for installing the most common roofing types to the mardome kerb are illustrated on the label attached to the kerb

·         For improved weathering, the roof covering cap sheet can be terminated horizontally on the top surface of the kerb. Care must be taken to minimise the build up of material on this surface. It is recommended that the membrane is mitred (rather than lapped) on the top surface at the corners to provide a flat surface for the rooflight to seal to

Dome / Pyramid

Place the opening dome assembly squarely on the kerb. Holding the dome open to 90° (important - no more than 90°, as overextending the opening can damage the dome), use a powerdriver fitted with the T25 bit supplied to drive the 75mm fixings through the recess in the lower uPVC frame and into the kerb. (If installing to a timber upstand, use the 95mm fixing.) Space the fixings evenly around the frame (max 300mm centres) and ensure they are kept vertical during their installation.

Disconnecting the Stays

It may be necessary to disconnect the stays in order to gain access for the installation of the fixings on the hinged side of the dome. Rotate the knob and pull it out to release the lower end of the stay. It is important that the dome is then opened no more than 90° as overextending the opening can damage the dome.

Remember the stays must be reconnected once the fixings are in place
